House Members
The Honorable Jaime Capelo
D-Corpus Christi, District 34
Rep. Capelo began his term as a state legislator in 1998, to fill a vacancy created by a resignation. He serves on the Public Health and Judicial Affairs committees.
Prior to his election to the House, Capelo was a member of the Corpus Christi City Council. He is a native of Corpus Christi and a graduate of Yale University and The University of Texas School of Law. He is a partner in the law firm of Capelo & Bargas P.C. and a member of LULAC, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as on the board of directors of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Literary Council.
The Honorable Wayne Christian
R-Center, District 9
Rep. Christian became a Texas State Representative in 1997, and currently serves on the House Committees on Human Services and Agriculture/Livestock.
Christian was raised in Tenaha and is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University. He is the owner of SunAmerica Securities, an investment firm. He is active with the First Baptist Church of Center, Lions International and Gideons International.
The Honorable Henry Cuellar
D-Laredo, District 42
Rep. Cuellar was first elected to the Texas Legislature in 1986. He is a four-term member of the House Appropriations Committee and he also serves as vice-chairman of the Higher Education Committee and as chairman of the House Research Organization Steering Committee.
The Laredo native has a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law. He also earned a master's degree at Laredo State University and is pursuing his doctoral degree at UT-Austin. He is an attorney and owns a U.S. Customs brokerage business in Laredo.
The Honorable Yvonne Davis
D-Dallas, District 111
Rep. Davis was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1992. Currently, she is chairwoman of the Local and Consent Calendar Committee, and is a member of the Transportation and Ways and Means committees.
Davis is active in the West Dallas Community Center and the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of the University of Houston and owns YD Associates, a governmental and public relations marketing firm in Dallas.
The Honorable Diane White Delisi
R-Temple, District 55
Rep. Delisi was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1996 and currently serves on the Public Health and Appropriations committees. In addition, she serves on the House Research Organization Task Force on Smoking and Health.
Delisi is a founder and board member of the Coalition for Family Involvement Foundation, and is active with the Heart O'Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She holds degrees from Southern Methodist University and the University of Colorado, as well as a certificate of Studies from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest.
The Honorable Peggy Hamric
R-Houston, District 126
Rep. Hamric was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1990. She currently serves on the House Committees for Natural Resources, Transportation and House Administration. She also serves as vice chairman of the House Research Organization.
Rep. Hamric is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and is a board member of the Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum and is a member of the Women Professionals in Government. She has lived in the Houston area for almost 30 years.
The Honorable Carl Isett
R-Lubbock, District 84
Rep. Isett was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1996. He currently serves on the Juvenile Justice and Family Issues and the State, Federal and International Relations committees. He also serves on the steering committee for the House Research Organization.
Rep. Isett is a tax accountant and has bachelor and master's degrees from Texas Tech University. He is a partner in WIP, a financial and electronic banking service in Lubbock.
The Honorable Rob Junnell
D-San Angelo, District 72
Rep. Junell was first elected to the Texas Legislature in 1988 and is currently serving his fourth term as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, and as a member on the Legislative Budget Board and the Legislative Audit Committee. He has served on the Citizen's Committee on Property Tax Relief and the Select Committee on Revenue and Public Education.
Junell is a native of West Texas and has degrees from New Mexico Military Institute, Texas Tech University, and the University of Arkansas. He is an attorney in San Angelo and an elder in the First Presbyterian Church. In addition he is on the board of directors of the Tom Green County AgriFood Education Council and the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.
The Honorable Brian McCall
R-Plano, District 66
Rep. McCall was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1990. Currently he serves as a member of the Calendars, State Affairs and Sunset committees, and as vice chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.
McCall is president and chief executive officer of the McCall Insurance Agency and the A.M. Scott Agency, and holds degrees from Baylor University and Southern Methodist University. In addition, he was a visiting postgraduate student at Oxford University in England. He has been recognized as an outstanding young businessman in Plano, and has delivered more than 100,000 math textbooks to South African schools.
The Honorable Anna Mowery
R-Ft. Worth, District 97
Rep. Mowery was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1988. Currently she serves on the Appropriations and Land and Resource Management committees and the Select Committee on Constitutional Revision.
Born in Decatur, Mowery has a master's degree from Central State University in Edmond, Okla., and a bachelor's degree from Baylor University. She is active with the Rape Crisis Coalition and Women's Policy Forum as well as the Greater Fort Worth Literacy Council.
The Honorable Jim Pitts
R-Waxahachie, District 10
Rep. Pitts was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1992. He currently serves on the Appropriations, Financial Institutions and Redistricting committees; he chaired the Appropriations subcommittees on regulatory agencies and major information systems.
Pitts was born in Dallas where he obtained a bachelor's degree and juris doctorate from Southern Methodist University. He is an attorney in Waxahachie where he previously served on the school board for 14 years prior to his election as state representative. He is active with the Presbyterian Children's Services and was chosen as Waxahachie's Outstanding Citizen in 1999.
The Honorable Barry Telford
D-DeKalb, District 1
Rep. Telford was elected as State Representative in 1986. He currently is chairman of the Calendars Committee, and a member of the Pensions and Investments and Human Services committees.
The representative is a native of DeKalb where he operates Telford Gas and Furniture. He is a graduate of North Texas State University.
